Affiliate program issues

Purchase's through the affiliate system do not show up in your account automatically, each purchase must be approved by an administrator. Once the purchase is approved, it becomes visible in your account. The reason for the manual approval is to prevent abuse. Affiliate purchase approvals are usually done one a week.

The way the affiliate program is set up is not 100% fool-proof, due to the limitation in the technology that is used to track purchases through the affiliate system. The affiliate program is based on browser "cookies." Cookies are small bits of data that get stored on the end user's machine. There could be a number of reasons why the purchase did not register.

The user may have:
- Disabled cookies in their browser.
- Deleted cookies from their browser manually.
- Used another browser to actually make the purchase.
- Used a different PC to make the purchase.

In either case the cookie would not have been present -- and without a cookie being present, there is no way to track the purchase though the affiliate program.

And finally, the user may have previously clicked on an affiliate link from another affiliate's web site. The affiliate program will only store / register the first affiliate link.
