shuffleOnLoad

shuffleOnLoad -- Shuffles the playlist

Usage

wimpy.swf?shuffleOnLoad=yes

Parameters

yes
no

This option defaults to "no"
You can either explicitly set this option to "yes" or "no" or simply do not include this option when loading the player and Wimpy will use the "default" value.

Description

Shuffles the list of files in the playlist when the player launches. and sets the default state of the shuffle button to "on."

Overall we feel that "shuffle" is a little more elegant  that "jumping" to a random item.

The concept of "shuffle" is the same as the concept of "random selection." The concept of "randomly selecting the next file" when a file is finished playing would cause the player to "jump" to some randomly selected item in the playlist. Whereas if the playlist is "shuffled," when a file is finished playing it simply goes to the next item in the playlist, and since the playlist items are "shuffled" the same effect is achieved without causing the highlight in the playlist to "jump" out of view, or scroll to a new position.

If there are only a few items in the playlist, this option may seem to "not work" -- the reason for this is because there are too few items in the list. Since "shuffle" is based on a concept of randomizing the entire list of files in the playlist,  when only a few items are in the playlist, chances are very high that the random order automatically derived will be the same after any number of "shuffles."
