OPML Podcast Directory Playlist

In addition to playing traditional Podcasts, Wimpy can also display OPML Podcast Directories (or Lists).

OPML files are simple XML-based structures that list individual Podcast Feeds as collections, usually organized by genre or category.   They are used by Podcast aggrigators, Podcatchers, & Podcast Managers to organize collections of Podcasts for use as a general directory listing of many podcasts.

To use an OPML files, simply set the media option to the URL to your OPML file.

Example

<div data-wimpyplayer data-media="http://www/path/to/podcast-list.opml"></div>

You can see a live exampe of Wimpy running an OPML file here.

Check That Extension!

OPML files should use an "opml" extension.

Example

myPodcastList.opml

If your file does not use "DOT opml" as the last five characters, you can trick wimpy by tacking-on "?foo.opml" to the end of your URL. This will cause Wimpy to recognize the URL as an "opml" file and subsequently handle the playlist as a Podcast List.

Example

<div data-wimpyplayer data-media="http://www/path/to/list.xml?foo.opml"></div>

Or if your podcast URL already has a ? symbol in there, use a # as:

<div data-wimpyplayer data-media="http://www/path/to/list.php?xyz#foo.opml"></div>

Alternatively, you can use a simple JSON object and set the "kind" field to "opml" as:

Example

<div data-wimpyplayer data-media='{"file":"http://www/list.xml","kind":"opml"}'></div>
