Plug Playlists

A "plug playlist" is a secondary playlist that inserts tracks "in between" the main playlist's tracks. A plug playlist allows you to insert commercials, or short "spots" between tracks -- without having to modify your main playlist. The plug playlist is transparent to the user and is not visible within the player. A plug playlist is identical to a standard Wimpy XML playlist, and can include as much (or as little) information as needed.

Plug playlists can be configured using the Customizer Tool (Advanced Options > Plug Playlist). Or you can manually set up a plug playlist. See the Rave API for "plugPlaylist" for code examples.

Plug playlists work in conjunction with the "Plug Every" option. The "plug every" option allows you to control how often an item in the plug playlist will play. Tracks will play within Rave alternating between the plug playlist and the main playlist. The frequency of the alternation is based on the "plug every" option.

For example:

Let's say your main playlist is set up as follows:
- File name is set to playlist.xml (or whatever you're using for your main playlist )
- Contains 10 items
- For simplicity, each item in the main playlist has a name of "track 1" through "track 10"

And your plug playlist is set up as:
- File name is set to playlist_plugs.xml
- Contains 5 items
- Each item in the main playlist has a name of "commercial 1" through "commercial 5"

"Plug Every" is set to 2

In the event that your plug playlist only contains one item (named "commercial 1"), the playback order will bas follows:
