Plugins Overview

Plugins provide a way for third-party Developers to include unique functionality into Wimpy such as search, category lists, album cover slider, database connectivity and other unique features.. Plugins are incorporated into Wimpy via Skin Machine.

A plugin is an SWF file that is loaded into Wimpy at start up. Plugins are positioned and configured using Skin Machine. See "Using a Plugin" below.

To create a plugin, you'll need to have Adobe Flash. We've created a "plugin template" that can be used as a starting point for development. For more information on developing a plugin see the "Developer's Guide" section of this documentation.

Plugins can interact with, or control Wimpy by calling any of Wimpy's "public" functions. Plugins can also act independently of Wimpy by loading and displaying other "stuff."
